My earliest memory with a horse is of my mare, Nutmeg. We couldn't afford tack, so I rode bareback, with no shoes on my feet, galloping through open fields. Those moments weren't about riding—they were about freedom, trust and connection.

Horses have shaped the person I am today. They have taught me patience, kindness, understanding, healthy boundaries and, above all, that true leadership is earned, never demanded.

As a Romani woman, my heritage is at the heart of everything I do. One belief has guided me throughout my life: We Borrow This Earth—we do not own it.

We are simply its caretakers for a short time. I believe the same is true of our horses. They are not ours to control, but our partners to understand, respect and care for.

At nineteen, an accident ended my career in racing and changed the direction of my life. That journey led me to Spain, where I worked with rescue horses. It was there that I began looking beyond behaviour and into the horse's mind, learning how trust, experience and herd dynamics shape every response.

Today, my work brings together those experiences with my passion for equine biomechanics, mindfulness and ethical leadership. I believe that if we ask horses to carry us, it is our responsibility to help them move as comfortably and freely as possible—both physically and mentally.

The Jilo Grai Method was born from this philosophy.

Jilo means heart, and Grai means horse.

It is a way of learning that blends Romani values, modern biomechanics and mindful horsemanship to create partnerships built on trust rather than pressure.

Because trust is fragile. It cannot be demanded or bought. It is grown, nurtured and earned—every single day.

My hope is that every person who learns with me leaves with more than new skills. I hope they leave with a deeper understanding of their horse, greater confidence in themselves, and a reminder to tread lightly on the Earth we all borrow.
